Bob MaistrosSuppose you, Dear Reader, were in a horrific accident purposely precipitated by a mad motorist high on deadly doses of drugs and alcohol, with a heaping helping of sociopathy on the side.
You’ve connected with a conscientious, albeit vexatious, ambulance operator to transport you to the hospital with all deliberate speed. But the demented drunkard reappears in a beat-up jalopy and consciously collides with the emergency transport — first from behind, then from one side, then from the other, until it is practically disabled.
The repeat offender shouts that your diligent driver is a terrible person who was actually breaking the law in speeding you where you wanted to go, and now his vehicle is damaged besides. You should climb into the cray-cray’s clunker to continue to the ER for treatment of the very injuries he occasioned.
Of course, you’d dismiss such a psychotic suggestion out-of-hand. And therefore join in your commentator’s SMH response to a recent MS-NOW “Morning Joe” segment.
Joe and Mika salivated over a New York Times piece profiling 12 Donald J. Trump voters now somehow seriously considering the DSA’s (née Democrats’) unhinged, sacrilegious, girlie-man U.S. Senate candidate in Texas, one James Talarico.
Need your correspondent recount this disturbed Democrat’s screwball statements and positions?
- “White skin gives me and every white American immunity from the virus (of racism). But we spread it wherever we go. … We don’t have to be showing symptoms — like a white hood or a Confederate flag — to be contagious.”
- “(Y)oung activists have really drawn the link between climate change and white supremacy and capitalism in our country.”
- “It’s time to tear down this secret police force” (ICE).
- “God is nonbinary. … Modern science obviously recognizes there are many more than two biological sexes. In fact, there are six.” (“Obviously.”)
- “Fossil fuels are destroying the planet.” “(Y)ou cannot call yourself a Christian and destroy God’s creation with greenhouse gases.”
- “Make billionaires pay their fair share in taxes — including by imposing a higher tax on their income and capital gains” (recognized to stunt growth and likely reduce revenues) “and ending the dubious ‘buy, borrow, die’ loopholes that billionaires use to grow untaxed wealth” (i.e., institute a wealth tax.)
- “Make corporations pay their fair share in taxes — including by raising the corporate tax rate.” (Which Democrats by implication admit causes inflation).
- “Create a federal public health insurance option that competes with private insurance” (acknowledged to be a stalking horse for single-payer) … “reinstate the Affordable Care Act’s enhanced premium tax credits” (a.k.a. “welfare for the wealthy”).
While the state legislative backbencher is tripping over himself to backtrack full-speed from his kookiest concepts, he would clearly revive Sleepy Joe Biden’s gender-bending, DEI force-feeding, border-dissolving, climate-crazed, healthcare market-distorting and inflationary insanity.
So why are voters nationwide seemingly ready sign up for another ride in the Democratic demolition derby — not just in Texas, but also in Michigan, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and Alaska, where lefty nutjobs appear poised to flip solidly MAGA states to the DSA? Why is one of the looniest and least qualified candidates in human history possibly making inroads even in the Free State of Florida?
Three reasons. First, as your correspondent warned within days of the 2024 vote, the president’s power-drunk, by turns cynical/semi-psychopathic opposition has in fact mounted “a prolonged siege of renewed lawfare, forum-shopped court challenges, scorched-earth rhetoric, media gaslighting, tech censorship, Deep State defiance, and Uniparty vetoes of promised reform.”
And even — as life imitates artful hypotheticals — literally weaponized 3-ton SUVs to physically obstruct the agenda the president’s “forgotten Americans” voted for, while gaining sympathy for the obstructionists.
Bringing us to the second reason for a potential turnabout: too many Trump voters are simply too brain-dead to withstand the PTSD DSA demolitionists have inflicted — and reject the idiotic idea that the chaos-sowers are their true champions.
Take mass deportations, the Orange Man’s signature issue, once backed by solid majorities, with nearly eight in 10 additionally favoring removal of criminal aliens. Incredibly, with the border re-secured, eight of the Times’ 12 pro-Trump voters maintained that the immigration situation had gotten “worse” under The Donald.
Among their comments:
- “I don’t like the way that (ICE is) going about their job.”
- “I don’t like the methods used to (conduct deportations). They’re very thuggish in nature.”
- “They’re attacking these hard-working family men.”
Rhetoric tracking Democratic talking points on eliminating ICE — not to mention polls now consistently showing Americans believe immigration enforcement has “gone too far” and gobsmackingly, an even split on which party they trust on the issue.
A trend repeated on traditionally Republican strongholds: taxes, deficits, foreign policy and the current Big Kahuna, affordability.
But in reality, it all comes down to one mega-issue: the unexpectedly sticky Iran conflict, with its temporarily depressing effect on the president’s energy dominance drive and its downstream benefits in terms of growth and the cost of living.
Here too, as your commentator has previously asserted, “a cadre of deranged, depraved, deceitful, and dangerously destructive Democratic demagogues is determined to pile up political points on (voters’) petulance as they undermine American interests and offer aid, comfort, and most of all, encouragement to our enemies via shameless slander of their commander in chief.” It’s clear the IRGC is waiting out the midterms in hopes a political earthquake will result in a completely crippled chief executive.
Now, segue to reason three Trump voters are caving: equally craven Republicans.
In a sane world, GOP candidates would educate voters as to the national, energy and economic security dividends to be reaped by patient support of the president’s strategy of tightening the noose around Iran’s leadership.
Instead, by ABC News’ count, 17 spineless Republican House, Senate and gubernatorial incumbents and hopefuls have turned tail and run screaming from their wartime leader.
As this commentator scribbled above, SMH. Because the potential impact of the DSA’s cynical and destructive obstructionism, combined with an unthinking electorate and a gutless GOP, could shake America to its core.
