I & I Editorial BoardTwo months ago, as the Democrats were preparing for their national convention in Chicago, we were concerned that it would be a repeat of the party’s 1968 convention that was marred by riots. But sanity prevailed. It was a relatively quiet affair. Will the Democrats be just as quiet if Donald Trump wins next week’s election? It’s more likely that they will erupt with rage.
After all, there have been two failed attempts to assassinate Trump. Yes, the suspects in both cases appear to be disturbed. But it’s been the nonstop vilification of the former president from the left that likely motivated them. The prospect of another term for Trump is going to push many over the edge that they’ve been teetering on since the man announced in 2015 that he was running for president.
From the Oct. 28 Wall Street Journal:
Across America, more than a dozen progressives in various positions of influence told The Wall Street Journal that they are dreading the prospect of Trump’s return to power, and dismayed that half the country might see a completely different reality than they see. Some are bracing for unrest. On a recent evening, more than 200 people joined a Zoom meeting titled Mass Training For Women’s Safety Teams — hosted by a Women’s March veteran who noted its timing amid ‘escalating political violence.'”
There is precedent. Trump’s 2016 election win provoked an outbreak of violence that lasted for days.
“For the third night in a row, anti-Donald Trump demonstrators took to the streets in several big cities and on college campuses across the United States, including an outburst of smashed windows and a dumpster fire in Portland that police countered with pepper spray and flash-bang devices,” USA Today reported on Nov. 11, 2016.
The day before, Al Jazeera said the protests against “Trump’s election victory had turned violent.”
Months later, on Jan. 21, 2017, Reuters reported “black-clad activists among hundreds of demonstrators protesting Donald Trump’s swearing-in on Friday clashed with police a few blocks from the White House, in an outburst of violence rare for an inauguration.” At least 217 were arrested.
Even before the election, the left was violent toward Team Trump. According to NBC, “Trump supporters were mobbed and assaulted by protesters” in June 2016 “after the candidate’s campaign rally in California.” A woman wearing a “Trump” jersey “was cornered, spat on, and pelted with eggs and water bottles” during the skirmish.
What we saw then is likely to be tame in comparison to what is coming.
We’re not forgetting Jan. 6. But that was an event fully out of character with conservatives and Republicans. And we remind readers that of the thousands who marched that day, maybe as many as 80,000, only 452 were violent and charged with “assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers or employees.” Fewer than 130 have been charged with vandalism or theft.
Neither are we forgetting the leftist violence we’ve seen in the last year on behalf of Hamas against America’s Jews, and before that the George Floyd riots, and the thuggery that occurs any time Antifa shows up.
Democrats have warned the country that Trump is a “danger to democracy,” a fascist, another Hitler. But it’s the Democrats who use the threat of violence to turn the election in their favor. “If Trump does win the election, the left in America will certainly riot,” says author and political commentator Douglas Murray. “They will make sure cities they believe they dominate go up in flames again.”
And they’ve apparently been considering the insurgent option for months. Jonathan Tobin wrote in the Federalist in February that Democrats “need a backup plan if the courts won’t do their bidding” to keep Trump out of the White House if he wins by “doing exactly what they labeled as ‘insurrection.'”
“A Trump victory would almost certainly set off bloody riots in every American city,” he said.
Hell hath no fury like the Democrats who won’t allow a peaceful transition of power.

I hope there will be no violence if Trump wins.
If Kamala wins there will be no, if any, domestic violence; but if Trump wins there most probably will be domestic violence.
Leftists are violent; look at Antifa and BLM during the riots. Notice they went away when Biden officially(?) won the Presidency.
It wasn’t because they respected Biden; it was because their leaders saw that Biden was weak and would be inept (due to his dementia-ridden mentality).
What this means is that if Trump wins then we can expect violence. It’s a shame, but some violence is evil-and you need violence to stop the evil from continuing.
Look at WWII. The Nazi’s were evil and they were violent. America was needed to stop the Nazi’s evil (and also the Japanese’s). The only way to do this is to face the evil by confronting and opposing it with your own violence.
Look for statues and monuments to be torn down by Antifa groups at first. If nothing is done than they will be emboldened-just as they were during the riots in the last years of Trump’s 1st term-to smash and rob businesses.
If nothing is done again, then they will start taking over towns and killing people. Evil is not always cowardly- but generally it is stealthy. Those practicing evil will see how far they can go if nothing is done to prevent them from practicing their evil.
In the end, sometimes a firebreak won’t do it. Sometimes you need to fight a fire with a fire.
I don’t think I’m engaging in melodrama when I conclude that in order to save this country (and that’s why many people are voting for Trump-that’s the main reason I am) we might need -hopefully a minimally violent- 2nd American Revolution.

Is this a rhetorical question? Of course the Left will respond with violence, regardless of the outcome- Violence is their default setting. I think the difference is that in 2016 and 2020, the Right was caught by surprise by the scope, scale, and official support of violence by the Democrat party. 2024 will be different. Should Trump win, while the Blue states Governors and Mayors wring their hands and bleat about the need to provide domestic terrorists and thugs with “space to express their frustration”, I think they will be met with a much different response from the federal level and the Red public. There will be a reckoning.
The only thing that will return sanity to society will be a total collapse and reset. May our next set of leaders not allow us to play pretend. Think about it. Everything is skewed against legal citizen straight white working taxpaying males. We are almost hitting the reset button.
I’m convinced violence is their current strategy — that they might just radicalize one nut to finally get a successful shot at Trump. It’s why they keep shrieking about Hitler and concentration camps and the end of democracy.
Of course, the Democrats will be violent after Trump wins this election. Look what they did when he won the first time. Democrats, AKA Marxists, always project their own desires, motivations and actions upon their perceived political enemies. As I type, there is a Democrat war room planning the details of where the pallets of bricks will be left for their paid activists and foot soldiers.
Violence by Democrats will be easy for them to justify, since their senile leader and President have pronounced half of all Americans “garbage” and “anti-American.”
The statement that the violent left will make sure the cities they control burn is so true, so ironic, and it captures perfectly how dense these people are. Sure, make the people who actually voted your way suffer, brilliant.
I disagree. The amount of election related violence will be in direct proportion to the amount of money thrown at it. Unless the globalists come up with some serious cash, the rioters won’t perform for them. Even if they do, all of the destructive behaviors the Democrats keep recycling are hitting Americans as tired attempts to deceive them. Americans are tuning out the media amplification of Democrats. Trump and Americans are much wiser now and far less willing to put up with nonsense.

There has only been one recent violent attempt to prevent a peaceful transition of power, and it wasn’t the Democrats.

Please view “The Fall of Minneapolis,” video if you have not already seen it, regarding the massive hair trigger that sets off mobs that are ready in the wings in the USA these days, even if they are fed outrageous lies, usually fed the lies by the networks and the main media.
The carefully researched video, “The Fall…” reports that George Floyd died of an overdose of his own pills that he swallowed to hide them from the police and that Floyd was not murdered by the police, as has been reported by the same networks and main media a million times. The video also tells of suppressed evidence, the local police chief committed perjury and the corruption the judge allowed in his own courtroom.
All of that set off such massive riots, murder, arson and destruction by the misinformed mobs all across the nation. All misguided and entirely unwarranted and, of course, illegal.
So, we all must be forewarned of the hair trigger mobs who someone, most likely the networks and main media yet again, may slip loose with their lies and misinformation regardless who wins the 2024 election.
It should never, ever, be this way in our own Constitutional country!
