You’ve probably been reading in the news lately about how Democrats have started calling Donald Trump a fascist.
They’re saying things like:
“The stench of fascism is in the air,” and
He wants to “replace the Bill of Rights with fascist precepts lifted verbatim from Mein Kampf,” and
He “displays the supremacist ideology of Nazi Germany.’’
And, “He is a fascist, for his program takes immediate and direct aim at (a sector of) the working class.’’
Oh, wait. Those statements weren’t about Trump at all.
The first quotation was what California Gov. Pat Brown said about Barry Goldwater in 1964. The second was leveled by Missouri Rep. William Clay against President Ronald Reagan in the 1980s. The third was what George Soros said about George W. Bush in 2003. The fourth was what a leftist rag said about former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker in 2011.
The complete list of such accusations against Republicans over the past six decades would choke the internet.
So, it made us laugh when we read the headline in the New York Times that: “Harris and Democrats Lose Their Reluctance to Call Trump a Fascist.” As though this were some sort of shocking new development and not one of the most hackneyed attack lines in history.
It’s even more laughable given that Democrats lost their “reluctance” to equate Trump with Hitler more than eight years ago. Does the Times really not remember when Joe Biden called Trump supporters semi-fascists?
The only difference is that Kamala Harris has decided – after her campaign of “joy” and flip-flops wore thin and her poll numbers started tumbling – to use the N-word as her closing argument against Trump.
Russia collusion was off the list. Lawfare wasn’t enough to deter Trump supporters. Scaring voters about Project 2025 didn’t move the needle. So, why not play the Nazi card?
And, so, the press has dutifully started filing stories about how experts think Trump is a fascist and how Democrats are clanging the alarms to warn the public about the existential threat he poses.
There are two reasons why everyday Americans should be appalled by this display.
The first reason is that the Left isn’t just calling Trump a fascist. It is accusing anyone who votes for him – which is roughly half of the voting-age population – of supporting mass murder, genocide, global war, government control of industry, censorship, and a central government that dictates every aspect of their lives.
The second reason is that none of the people calling Trump a fascist today will pay a price for it tomorrow.
When Trump turns out not to be a fascist, but a tax-cutting, government-downsizing, swamp-draining president who keeps the U.S. out of wars and the world at peace (which is what Trump was doing during his first term), no one will go back and ask for an apology.
Trump’s most vile accusers will continue to be treated with respect. They will hold onto their high-paying jobs and be feted at social events. They will routinely show up on cable news to offer “expert” insights on politics and policy. They will be vigorously patted on the back as open-minded and tolerant.
And then they will go right back to accusing the next person who disagrees with their leftist agenda of being a fascist.
So, we are keeping a list of everyone who has called Trump a fascist, Hitler, a dictator, etc. And, if Trump wins next week and then goes on to disprove them all, we will in four years issue demands to each and every one of them that they hang their heads in shame and beg the American people for mercy.

Democrats bury Godwin!
Many in the media are reaching a point of hysteria. Their caricature of Trump being some sort of Hitler figure who, if elected, will throw his naysayers (a polite term for their ridiculous smears) into concentration camps or even worse, be deported from our Country. This apparent image of a rogue Trump they have created in their minds is the real danger to our Democracy and our Country. Invariably, everything they have done to Trump are the very same things they all claim he will do to them.
It may be called Anticipatory Projection = what they fear will happen themselves is what they are currently doing to their “enemies”.
If calling Donald Trump a fascist motivates some bad action by folks who call themselves “antifa”, will those doing the name calling admit any resonsibility, have any remorse?
The leftists’ penchant to label anyone who disagrees with them as Nazi, Hitler, and fascist is an automatic knee-jerk response. The tsunami of Nazi insults levelled at Trump is identical to what was done with Goldwater and Nixon. See:

Difficult not to chuckle. In a lifetime any of us can and will say any number of things that can be called “fascist” — “let’s unite behind X!” — or “communist” — “Build public libraries!”
Sober up, folks: Fascist is as fascist does.
I’ve seen fascism in action. No American politician measures up.
Oh really, none of them measure up? How many people got behind the clearly ridiculous idea of Trump’s “Russian Collusion”, in order to beat down a candidate because he didn’t agree with the Left? Heck, they impeached him twice! Many, MANY people wanted him in prison! For not agreeing with their philosophies!
How about forcing businesses closed for the “pandemic”? Anyone who worked for a company that did business with the Federal Government was forced to get a shot that they did not want or lose their jobs?
How about being censored in the media, or lose your professional job, if you even dared talk about alternative treatments for COVID?
How about people in powerful positions suggesting an approach of denying health care to those who did not get vaccinated?
How about when one party doesn’t like the politics of another party, they open the border and flood the country with aliens, hoping to get more votes?
How about the push for increasing the number of Supreme Court justices because they are intolerant of their decisions?
Seriously, are you asleep at the wheel? Fascism is alive and well, and it is called the Progressive Left.
Tom, I couldn’t said it better my self. It is refreshing to see others with clarity.
Everything the article says is correct. Nonetheless, a list of those who have recently (in the current campaign) called for Trump’s “elimination,” “destruction,” “the extinguishing of”, or lamented that the attempts on his life have failed or missed is also called for — even more so because of the evil intent behind such remarks.
Great investigative journalism! Our nation needs more please.
To a communist, anything right of their ideology is fascism.
