Of the many falsehoods, exaggerations, and evasions President Joe Biden uttered in his ABC News interview that aired over the weekend, one went completely overlooked. And it was his most brazen.
Biden might not have looked senile in his 20-minute sit-down talk with “journalist” George Stephanopoulos, but he didn’t assuage anyone who doubts his ability to tell fact from fiction.
The entire interview was filled with weird boasts …
- “I’m the guy that shut Putin down. No one thought could happen.” (More than three years and $173 billion in taxpayer money after the Ukraine war started, Vladimir Putin shows no signs of giving up.)
- “Not only am I campaigning, I’m running the world.” (Does he really want to make that claim, given the many wars started after he took office, the attacks on U.S. soldiers, the disastrous retreat from Afghanistan, etc.?)
- “Look, I remember them telling me the same thing in 2020. I can’t win, the polls show I can’t win.” (At this point in 2020, Biden was 9 points ahead of Trump, and he was never less than 4 points ahead of Trump throughout the 2020 campaign, according to RealClearPolitics.)
- When Stephanopoulos asked, “What’s your plan to turn the campaign around?” Biden’s response was “How many — how many people [unintelligle] crowds like I do today? You find any more enthusiastic than today? Huh?” (Even Stephanopoulos couldn’t stomach that one, advising Biden “I don’t think you want to play the crowd game.”)
And the awkward evasions …
- When asked if he watched the debate after, Biden’s response was “I don’t think I did, no.”
- When asked if he’d be willing to undergo an independent medical evaluation that included neurological and cognitive tests and release the results, Biden’s answer was “Well, I’ve already done it.”
And the usual litany of lies, such as the repeatedly debunked claim that Donald Trump told the public to “put bleach in our arms to deal with COVID.”
But one of his lies really caught our attention, both because we hadn’t heard this one before, and because it was particularly outrageous.
“One thing I’m proudest of,” he said, “is, remember when my economic plan was put forward, a lot of the mainstream economists said it’s not going to work. Well, guess what? We now have 16 Nobel laureates, 16 of them in economics, saying Biden’s next term would be — based on what he wants to do, an enormous success.”
We’ve already noted in this space that 13 of those 16 economists predicted that Biden’s “American Rescue Plan” would cut inflationary pressures, so their promise about his next four years should be considered equally worthless.
But it’s the first part of that quotation that is the lie, compounded by the fact that it directly contradicts an equally audacious lie Biden told in 2021.
Here’s what Biden was telling the public when he was selling the American Rescue Plan in 2021.
- “The American Rescue Plan … will generate economic growth for the entire nation. That’s why major economists — left, right, and center — support this plan.”
- “Every single major economist out there — left, right, and center — supported this plan.”
- “According to leading economists — forecasters like Moody’s and major international financial institutions — my plan will create — make us — create jobs, make us more competitive, and grow our economy and lessen — lessen, not increase — inflationary pressure.”
- “This is the first time in my career — and as you can tell, I’m over 30 — the first time in my career that there is a consensus among economists left, right, and center that is over- — and including the IMF and in Europe — that the overwhelming consensus is: In order to grow the economy a year or two, three, and four down the line, we can’t spend too much. Now is the time we should be spending. Now is the time to go big.”
That was a lie when Biden said it. Even the leftist Politifact labeled this claim as “mostly false.”
Now Biden is claiming that, despite opposition from mainstream economists, he pressed ahead with his spending spree, and the results have been so magnificent that 16 Nobel economists are now backing his reelection.
Unbelievable.
And if Biden’s name was Donald Trump, you can bet this series of lies would be front-page news.

…it came unhinged
“This is the first time in my career….”
This is the most glaring problem in biteme’s words. Career pols are the problem.
We must have term limits.
Joe Biden has been a dirtball his entire life.
I suspect that even if called outright for this series of lies Biden would not be shaken from his contrived reality. He lives in a reality fashioned from hearing his mind’s version of events. He appears to embrace as truth a universe described by a near demented man. Therein lies his safe-space. For the rest of us, there lies the danger.
