A new study out of Norway is exactly what was needed to shut down the climate alarmists. Its findings show that man has not set fire to his home planet.
Right from the top, in the abstract not 10 lines into the study, the authors get to the point.
“Using theoretical arguments and statistical tests we find,” the researchers say, “that the effect of man-made CO2 emissions does not appear to be strong enough to cause systematic changes in the temperature fluctuations during the last 200 years.”
In other words, our words, the greenhouse effect is so weak that it should be sidelined as an argument.
From there, the bad news only gets worse for priests of the climate religion.
“Even if recent recorded temperature variations should turn out to deviate from previous variation patterns in a systematic way it is still a difficult challenge to establish how much of this change is due to increasing man-made emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases.”
The researchers, from Statistics Norway, the government’s official data agency, also address the apparent “high degree of consensus among many climate researchers that the temperature increase of the last decades is systematic (and partly man-made),” while noting that “is certainly the impression conveyed by the mass media.”
Of course the climate zealots won’t like the study. Well, they also won’t like another new paper, this one from University of Alabama in Hunstville climate scientists Roy Spencer and John Christy, who have submitted Urban Heat Island Effects in U.S. Summer Surface Temperature Data, 1880-2015 to a science journal.

They believe they have demonstrated “that, not only do the homogenized (‘adjusted’) dataset not correct for the effect of the urban heat island (UHI) on temperature trends, the adjusted data appear to have even stronger UHI signatures than in the raw (unadjusted) data.”
According to Spencer, “the bottom line is that an estimated 22% of the U.S. warming trend, 1895 to 2023, is due to localized UHI effects,” and that “the effect is much larger in urban locations.”
In other words, our words, the temperature record we’re expected to accept without question is a sham – an argument we’ve been making for more than 20 years.
After so many decades, we finally realize that nothing will make these people – that’s right, these people – shut up. They will continue swearing that every weather anomaly is caused by anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions and go on recalculating their end-of-the-world schedules – in the same way that doomsday cults swear that they just got the day of doom wrong and then double down on the loco. For this, we will be all the poorer, financially and even intellectually.

NO study will ever “shut down the climate alarmists” because they already know! They create the fake data and spread the propaganda because it’s a political tool.
Utter nonsense. EVERY major weather and climate organization in the world agrees that the Earth has been warming. Every decade since the 1970s has been warmer than the previous.
So 50 Years of trend is “climate” vs. tens of thousands of years of variation? That’s science “logic” in 2023?

Glen, I clearly recall that in the 1970s the concern was the coming ice age, not global warming. Whatever happened to that? Hell, they were trying to figure out if they could put black fabric over the North Pole to help the ice melt.

Yes, there were some mainstream news articles about global cooling in the 1970s. That’s not what the vast majority of climate scientists were predicting–the were predicting warming. They were right.
As a retired geoscientist I know the science. I have seen the data, and it does not support the “climate change” agenda. Quite the contrary, we are currently in a CO2 starved state compared to most of the earth’s history. At at times when CO2 was as much as ten times current concentrations, the biosphere flourished. Sea levels rise and fall, hence the application of sequence statigraphy in correlating geologic depositional strata. These are processes that we do not control. The people with the god complex trying to exercise power they neither have nor understand is extremely dangerous and irresponsible.
Nonsense. “Most of the Earth’s history” does not include humans or most of the species we share the Earth with. And CO2 was much greater before plants evolved the capability to remove it from the air. That is not relevant to current life.

And even if it were not debunked, it does not support the I&I false claim that there is no global warming.
Nor would a single article debunk the many, many scientists describing the very real warming that the Earth is experiencing.

Let me ask you a question: You say the earth has been warming every year since 1970. But we had the industrial revolution since before 1900. How come the wasn’t warming before 1970?
My take is that it can’t (at least by you) be explained-or you would have claimed it, ie. you would have recognized the pre-1970 years.
No, I did not say the earth has been warming every year since 1970. I said every decade. It goes up and down, due to short-term changes such as El Nino/La Nina, solar cycles, and volcanic eruptions.
Warming started about 1910, but it cooled a bit in the 1940s, probably due to aerosol polution, from massive industrialization, interfering with sunlight. Then, in the 1970s, we cleaned up a lot of our aerosols (remember smog, and the Clean Air Act?).

Each of the 8 billion people on Earth has a share of the atmosphere which weighs 740,000 tons. Unless you, and every other person on Earth are each changing the temperature of a different 740,000 tons of air, mankind is not causing climate change. End of discussion.
Human activities have increased atmospheric concentration of CO2 by 50%. CO2 is a critical greenhouse gas, without which the Earth would be an ice ball planet.
It has to cause warming.

Need citations for proof of human activity causality link directly to global CO2 atmospheric concentrations while ruling out thermally induced oceanic and volcanic contributions. CO2 comprises approximately 0.04% of the atmosphere, negligible compared to water vapor, which is also a “critical greenhouse gas” generated mainly from solar energy. Citations also needed for CO2 versus H20 vapor influence on ‘global temperature’. What is the normal temperature baseline against which global warming is consistently measured ? Seems arbitrary to pick a date 50 years ago to discuss climate.

The greenhouse effect is not weak. It’s real and it’s what keeps life on this planet possible. But most of the greenhouse effect comes from water vapor. The amount of other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere pales compared to the amount of water vapor.
Climate change is one more modern mass psychosis (they are numerous in our current TMI word) created by political elites and bureaucrats to control industry and citizens, and piled on high by mainstream media.
Mainstream media loves climate change and global warming. What better headline to capture viewers/readers than YOU’RE KILLING THE EARTH!
You see, mainstream media looks for and/or creates soap opera narratives to capture eyes, ears and minds. The more minds they capture the more money they make in advertising, the more money they make for themselves.
So, how do you create a soap opera narrative? You do it by the constant postponement of narrative resolution. (Found that in a USC media quarterly several years ago.) That’s why climate change is the perfect media tool. There will never be any narrative resolution to climate change. Consequently, media gets to hit the cash register forever and ever and ever.
Europe’s been promoting climate change hard for one main reason – they do not possess energy natural resources. This puts them at an economic disadvantage to the US and other parts of the world, so Europe wants the price of energy to go up so they can remain cost competitive.
And China and Russia want us to drink the Kool-Aid so that we weaken our economy.
