Some of the best advice ever given was from Mark Twain, who said “it’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than open it and remove all doubt.” We’re not saying Joe Biden is stupid, but his comment about “plans to build a railroad from the Pacific all the way across the Indian Ocean,” removes all doubt that he is all there.
Speaking Wednesday evening before the League of Conservation Voters’ annual dinner, Biden waxed ineloquently:
“We’re talking about building — and I had my team putting together with other countries as well — to build a railroad from the Pacific Ocean — from the Atlantic Ocean all the way to the Indian Ocean.”
Reports said he also rambled on about a proposal to build a line across sub-Saharan Africa.
It’s too bad Vice President Kamala Harris didn’t offer a few words about the idea. She could have talked about, with a little Russian dressing on top, “the significance of the passage of trains over large bodies of water, which are known as oceans, and they are located on our planet, and there is a great significance to train travel, which has made history throughout history at a moment in time.”
It’s hard to decide which is more likely, construction and completion of Biden’s worldwide train, or the unlikely event he and Harris actually string words together in a coherent manner on the same day.
While Amtrak Joe plays with his imaginary train set, and apparently can’t stand the site of a train wreck because it reminds him so much of his administration, California can’t even build a high-speed rail over its own land.
The bullet train that was supposed to ripping up and down the state in 2020 full of passengers enjoying the 220 mph ride is nothing but an expensive monument to ineptness. Not to be funny, but it’s true “the project is moving at the speed of the museum piece it sometimes appears destined to be.”
It’s almost as if Biden’s Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was in charge.
But we also have to note that even Barack Obama, under whom Biden served, once referred to the U.S. building the “Intercontinental Railroad,” when he really meant “Transcontinental Railroad.” That’s the kind of gaffe that, if made by a Republican, would be repeated for years as evidence of his or her mental dimness.
Now back to Joe. His word salad about building a train to the Indian Ocean can’t be attributed to unfamiliarity with the world atlas.
Every day it becomes more obvious that his caboose isn’t connected to the rest of his train and the engine is a sputtering steam locomotive trying to roll by on square wheels. And his train remarks are just one of many recent examples. How much longer can the charade go on? Will he last until the next election? Or even the primaries?
Speculation that First Lady Jill is running the administration the way Edith Wilson took over the White House after Woodrow suffered a stroke in 1919 is both reasonable and frightening. It’s obvious Biden is hardly functional, and his inner circle is making sure we’re seeing him at his best. Imagine the feebleness of mind and body behind the scenes. Biden is fading faster than the country he’s tried his best to ruin.

Well said. Biden wandering around, lost in the White House must be a pathetic sight. His wife and his handlers should be jailed for elder abuse. But it’s our nation that’s suffering.
>elder abuse
I take your point but I ceased to be sympathetic to such things before the “election.” If it weren’t so hazardous to the country, more of these people should end their days in befuddlement and incoherence, soiling and humiliating themselves in public before being quietly disposed of.
Nice, funny, and scary column. I use to read your editorials at IBD (I used it for work). Glad I found you again.
you have to admit, when it comes to creating the ultimate boon doggle he nailed it, CA came close with the train to now where, but FJB’s idea is epic.
The pills can only do so much then the baboon jumps out of his cage!!!!
Has anyone connected the current shortage of Adderall to Joe’s obvious mental frailty? Is the White House soaking up the supply or is the “good day/bad day” showing of Joe attributable to scarcity of the perk-me-up drug?
Incidentally, props for the right-on mocking of Kamala.
It is impossible for this country to continue to exist with a “media” class composed, almost entirely without exception, of sub-human garbage that we must completely and utterly destroy. These people work immensely hard to get this senile, child-sniffing, imbecilic old crook installed in the White House; it is an embarrassment to intelligent people that so many people fell for it because Orange Man Bad.
No mention of this gaffe on CNN’s website. I guess it didn’t happen.
