The Democrats better pass that bill with $128 billion of school aid (on top of the more than $60 billion already appropriated but not yet spent) as quickly as possible because the schools are finally opening in most of the country without a penny more of federal school “aid.” Some $90 billion isn’t to be spent until 2023 or later when COVID-19 will long be in the history books.
While the news is positive on school openings, the Centers for Disease Control union-dictated guidance has slowed progress, probably as intended. - 44.7% of U.S. K-12 students attending “traditional” in-person/every day schools.
- 27.8% U.S. K-12 students are attending “hybrid” schools.
And here is a breakout by the two worst regions of the country versus the rest:

The latest map of where schools are open by state looks a lot like a map of labor market health. More evidence that school closures are economically destructive in addition to being harmful to children.

CDC scientists are not unionized.
The vaccines are wonderful. We can now start schools safely, with teachers, bus drivers cafeteria and other workers vaccinated.
We could have saved hundreds of thousands of Americans with a decent federal response. It was Bolton who got rid of the Pandemic Task Force established by Obama.
