We are delighted to announce that Terry Jones, former editor of Investor’s Business Daily’s commentary and opinion site, has joined Issues & Insights.
Jones was part of IBD from day one. In fact, he was one of the first people hired to help launch the new publication in 1983. He was instrumental in its success as a credible investor publication and a world-class editorial page.

Terry’s detailed knowledge of a wide range of issues, his keen insights, his mastery of the craft of journalism, and his fervent belief in the wisdom and morality of free markets and limited government, and his fact-based approach to opinion journalism are what made IBD Editorials a must-read each day.
IBD’s loss is I&I’s gain. And with Terry, Issues & Insights now boasts a complement of six former IBDers.
Some more background on Terry:
In his nearly 37 years at IBD, Terry has worked at a variety of posts, starting in 1984 as a general assignment business reporter. In 1986 he was named economics correspondent, covering the Third World debt crisis, U.S. economic and fiscal policy, energy and the Federal Reserve, among other economic topics.
In 1990, he covered the collapse of communism, traveling to Nicaragua, East Germany and Hungary to report for IBD on those nations’ first democratic elections.
In late 1990, he became his paper’s first National Issue editor, with responsibility for all political and economics coverage and oversight of IBD’s Washington bureau.
In 1996, he was promoted to the position of associate editor of Investor’s Business Daily. More recently he was editor of IBD’s now-defunct commentary and opinion pages, where he edited and assigned stories for IBD’s online edition and the paper’s weekly opinion pages.
He made numerous media appearances on the Financial News Network, the “The Kudlow Report,” “The O’Reilly Factor,” Dennis Miller’s Fox show, “The Dennis Prager Show,” “The Michael Medved Show,” and “The Glenn Beck Program,” among others, to talk about democracy, the U.S. economy, politics, and the Federal Reserve, to name a few topics.
He also served as the Free Markets columnist for Townhall Magazine, and as a weekly guest on PJTV’s “The Front Page,” a news and analysis show.
Before joining IBD, Terry worked for both Business Week and the Associated Press, and has taught economics at the college level.
Terry holds a bachelor’s degree in English and general literature from UCLA, with honors, and a master’s degree in urban planning, with a specialization in development economics, also from UCLA. He is an Abraham Lincoln Fellow at the Claremont Institute for the Study of Political Philosophy and Statesmanship.
Welcome, Terry!
