Two Defining Moments For Trump, And Democrats

In the span of a few days, the public has witnessed two events that have made it abundantly clear just where Democrats stand, or rather, sit, these days. Anyone who is remotely reasonable should consider looking for another political party to join.

The first came during the State of the Union when President Donald Trump invited lawmakers “to join with my administration in reaffirming a fundamental principle. If you agree with this statement, then stand up and show your support: The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.”

Democrats sat on their hands.

Republicans have already turned the moment into a campaign ad while Democrats are forced to defend their inaction – even to the mainstream media.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer tried to explain to CNN that “We agree we need to protect Americans,” but that he and his fellow Democrats refused to stand because Trump “isn’t” doing so. Which seems to be a textbook example of “cutting off your nose to spite your face.”

The second came just days later when a joint U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran killed its “supreme leader,” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with several other regime leaders.

Immediately, Iranians around the world ran into the streets in jubilation. They did so in Los Angeles and in Washington, D.C., in London and Madrid, in Denmark and Sweden.

Most incredibly, they were celebrating in Iran. Men and women filled the streets and, for the first time in decades, did so without fear of being summarily executed.

But while Iranians were joyously out in force, and while most of the world was breathing a sigh of relief that the Ayatollah’s reign of terror appears to be finished, and while other nations in the Middle East were condemning Iran for its retaliatory strikes on their countries, Democrats were condemning … Trump.

As Politico reported:

Progressives castigated the president for pursuing ‘dangerously illegal,’ ‘totally unnecessary’ and potentially ‘catastrophic’ military action when diplomacy was still on the table. Some, including Sens. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., declared ‘no war with Iran.’

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries pledged to force a vote on a resolution limiting Trump’s war powers in Iran, saying that the president must “provide an ironclad justification for this act of war.”

Every other leading Democratic presidential contender condemned the attack of Iran – Kamala Harris intoned that “I am opposed to a regime-change war in Iran” – while admitting that “the Iranian regime represses its own people” and “must never be allowed to possess nuclear weapons.”

(We will leave aside for the moment the nauseating reaction from some miscreants on the right, such as Tucker Carlson, who reportedly called the attack “absolutely disgusting and evil.”)

Sen. John Fetterman and a handful of other Democrats openly supported the death of Khamenei and the peace and freedom it promises. Fetterman said, “President Trump has been willing to do what’s right and necessary to produce real peace in the region.”

So, over the course of just a few days, Democratic Party leaders have put on prominent public displays of support for illegal aliens and Islamic terrorists over those of American citizens.

This isn’t happening because of Trump Derangement Syndrome. It’s happening because the party is now completely captured by its most radical, anti-American fringe.

Until now, that was something most Americans probably didn’t fully realize.

  • The two chapters in Trump’s awesome 2nd Administration chronicles is simply stunning. He tacked and tackled the sitting Democratic Congress people like the parasitic flies on the wall they are.
To paraphrase him, he asked the perfect question (which many Americans also wan to know). “Who are you most for,” he asked. “Stand up if you are more for American citizens over illegal aliens.”
Of course the Democrats, who were in the galley and seem to be the bedraggled naifs and serfs of common sense, refused to stand.
Such an offensive display would give me hope for America.
However, many people voted for them-that’s how they got into Congress, and even with the lawfare the Democrats practiced and the subterfuge they used and the insurrection-like tactics they favored they still got elected.
Their anti-democratic bullying tactics were manifestly obvious for everyone to see and yet they got elected and re-elected.
While their refusal to stand gives me hope; their TDS-voter-preference give me pause.

  • What utter bovine scat. The government’s job is not to “protect the American people.” That stupid phrase is the siren song of tyranny everywhere. What exactly is it he is doing to protect the American people? Executing unarmed citizens in the streets? Threatening businesses that don’t do as he pleases? Getting us involved in another unwinnable war in the Middle East? The job of the American Government is embodied in the Oath of Office that every president, every military officer takes and indeed every employee of the federal government takes: to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. The failure to understand this basic point is appalling.

    • Thank you very much for letting us all know what the President’s job is. Perhaps, in your next comment, you’ll give us the “meaning of life.”
