Raise Your Hand If You’re Glad Charlie Kirk Was Assassinated (So We Know Who You Are)

The assassination of Charlie Kirk was unlike anything any of us on the Issues & Insights editorial board have seen in our lifetimes.

Kirk didnโ€™t hold any political power. He wasnโ€™t rich. He didn’t call for or incite violence. He was a young man of strong beliefs who enjoyed debating other young people on the big issues of the day.

And for that, he was brutally murdered.

Youโ€™d think this would cause even his fiercest critics to stop for a moment and take stock in what just happened. If only out of consideration for his wife and two young children.

Instead, weโ€™ve seen an orgy of mindless โ€“ no, not mindless, outright evil โ€“ celebration.

We will not link to any of the ugliness peddled by vermin who infest social media platforms.

Suffice it to say, they have eagerly raised their hands to be counted as among the most despicable human beings ever to exist.

Very well. Now it’s up to the rest of us to act on this information.

Employers should scrub social media and immediately fire โ€“ or refuse to hire โ€“ anyone they find who publicly celebrated Kirkโ€™s execution. Colleges should expel them. Tenants should refuse to rent to them. Neighbors and friends should shun them.

We are, thankfully, starting to see some action.

Junto Wealth fired Margo Richardson, a “client service representative,” for celebrating Kirk’s death on social media.

A website has popped up that is collecting examples of leftists celebrating Kirk’s murder.

The Washington Post reported on Saturday that: “Workers are getting fired, placed on leave over Charlie Kirk posts,” and that “reactions to the conservative activistโ€™s killing have become a litmus test for employersโ€™ tolerance for political speech by employees, in public and private.” It goes on:

Several educators have been placed on administrative leave, including a Massachusetts teacher who posted a video that seemed to show her reveling in Kirkโ€™s killing, … a high schoolย art teacherย in Iowa, an employee at Lake Norman Charter School in North Carolina, and two professors at East Tennessee State University have similarly been disciplined.

The State Department issued a warning that foreigners found praising or making light of Kirk’s assassination risk having their visa applications denied or being deported.

This welcome news isnโ€™t about censorship. It’s about consequences.

This isnโ€™t about retribution. Itโ€™s about accountability.

We aren’t calling for authoritarianism. We simply want communities to uphold the most basic standards of civility.

To wit: Anyone who delights in the public execution of an innocent civilian, and who is willing to broadcast their delight to the world, should have no place in a civil society.

We can no longer afford to do nothing while this death cult gathers strength.

  • I concur. This is not a free speech issue, but one of common decency. Are we a society that can withstand vigorous rational debate, or are we a vicious tribal mob seething with hatred?

  • As the Well-Beloved Jesus of the Father, shared, ‘as they will do with Me, they will do to with you, for the servant is not more than the Teacher’…..

  • If we are talking about accountability, for whom and what was Kirk accountable to? Is accountability the correct word?

  • If I wrote what I wanted to write, this post would not be published and the Federal LEOs would be bashing in my door at o dark thirty.
The Left is responsible for all the political violence we have suffered thru in the last twenty years. ANTIFA burning cities to the ground. Congress crtitters shot, judges shot, ordinary people shot and stabbed. All by Leftists or crazies put back on the street by Leftists. And now the Left is demanding we ‘pause and take a deep breath’. Sorry. Less than a half hour after Rodney King died, the streets of LA were burning.Had we been the sort of tash the Left says we are, lots of cities would be burning right now; there would be rioting and cars being burned. None of tat heppened. Why? Because we are better than you. But, beware, this may be the singularity that changes that.
