I & I Editorial BoardA university report published last month shows that more than half of those who identify as being left of center on the political spectrum believe assassinating President Donald Trump would be justified. This didn’t come about organically. It’s the product of a vicious campaign waged by the Democratic Party-mainstream media axis.
According to a Rutgers Social Perception Lab-Network Contagion Research Institute brief, 55.2% of Americans on the left “reported that if someone murdered Donald Trump, they would be at least somewhat justified.” Overall, 38.5% hold the same belief.
Trump, who has survived a pair of assassination attempts (one of which was celebrated), is not the only legitimate target, say many Americans. The data show that nearly half, 48.6%, say murdering Elon Musk would be justified.
It turns out that there has also been a shocking show of support for Luigi Mangione, who has been charged with murdering UnitedHealth Chief Executive Officer Brian Thompson. In addition, Mangione has a health care ballot initiative named after him in California.
The report’s authors say, “support for political violence – including property destruction and
assassination – is not expressed in isolation, but as part of a tightly interconnected belief system.”
It’s not hard to imagine who makes up that “tightly interconnected belief system.” Reading further, we learn that there exists a pattern that “suggests a broader worldview in which violence is seen as a legitimate political response — not just a reaction to individual figures. Central to this belief system is Left-Wing Authoritarianism (LWA), characterized by moral absolutism, punitive attitudes toward ideological opponents, and a willingness to use coercion for progressive aims.”
This “broader worldview” has been crafted by Democrats and a leftist media that have whipped roughly half the country into a raging frenzy. The former, from party leaders down, have encouraged uprisings and unrest, while the latter have been telling Americans for a decade that Trump is a racist, an authoritarian, a dictator, and the direct offspring of Hitler if not his reincarnation.
It’s an effort to dehumanize him, which is a tacit approval for violent behavior. To this end, various playactors, politicians, and grifters have:
- Wanted to punch Trump in the face (Robert DeNiro)
- Wished they could “take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him” (Joe Biden)
- Wondered when “was the last time an actor assassinated a president” (Johnny Depp)
- Asked “where is John Wilkes Booth when you need him?” (actress Carole Cook),
- Said the “donor class” is “still going to have go out and put a bullet in Donald Trump” (Rick Wilson, Lincoln Project),
- “Thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House” (Madonna)
- Felt inspired to “go and take out Trump tonight” (Rep. Maxine Waters)
- Wished publicly that “somebody would kill Donald Trump” (academic and New York Times columnist John McWhorter)
- Hoped that “maybe Donald Trump will go away. Maybe he’ll go to jail. Maybe he will die” (former Biden press secretary and current MSNBC misinformer Jen Psaki)
Say all of this and more for long enough, and tens of millions will declare their allegiance to the “assassination culture” identified in the Rutgers report.

It’s clear that leftists adore the idea of assassinating anybody that they don’t like. The Democrats are now the pro-murder party, which is a new and sinister twist on their opposition to the pro-life party.
Nine Democrats in the House of Representatives introduced a bill in April 2024 called House Resolution 8081, that was designed to get Trump killed in prison by removing his Secret Service protection if he was jailed after his conviction on multiple bogus charges. If Trump had lost the election, then they wanted him to also lose his life.
This was months before a bullet grazed his ear in Butler, Pennsylvania, and the Secret Service shot and killed the assassin. The casualties were 1 KIA and 3 WIA that day, not counting the assassin, and many Democrats immediately expressed disappointment that Trump was WIA instead of KIA.
The author of that bill, Rep. Bennie Thompson, and these eight co-sponsors, should be added to the list of Democrats who are willing to use murder as a tool of politics.

Murder is what the Democrats now stand for, and what all sane Americans stand against.

The mainstream press editors are a major factor, too, in this very dangerous discussion. They publish lies, repeat those lies and do not allow debate about the rational other side of issues.
A beneficial DOGE reform for the country would be to fire, if it could be legal, those editors and commentators who gleefully toss gas and fan the fires of their own rabble rousing misinformation.
This further underscores the Left’s lack of morals, ethics and values.
The principles and basis for the ideals of the left lead to conclusions that all opposition must be crushed or killed to maintain power. Ask yourself what they stand for. The entire left just wants to rule and be rewarded as rulers. No other principles or morality drive them. So violence is acceptable. “From each according to ability to each according to need” but the need is dictated by the rulers and denying them what they “need” is an assault on society that must be put down. It is just so wrong.
No disagreement here. Your comment triggered in me a thought that goes like this, “Raising children teaches us how the child mind works during its various maturation phases; for example how 2-3 year olds can be devious, ultra aggressive and mean, screaming, throwing tantrums when their petty desires are blocked by reality or when they are told “no”. A teenage brain is so filled with hormones it seldom escapes having wild mood swings and so teen behavior often reminds the adult world of pre-pubescent children. I’ll stop there except to ask, “Are not the actions of Progressives and Dems much like toddlers or teens rather than rational adults? Are we really surprised when a 10 year old declares, “My dog ate my homework” or when a purple haired protestor screams, “Elon Musk is a Nazi”? Yes, I have concluded the Left are children and not the kind I will allow my children to play with.
Long overdue that those of us on the other side start thinking and acting accordingly.

No need to recruit or plan.
Demean your opponent long and hard enough you can statistically create an individual with feelings of a strong moral obligation who will carry out your wishes.
The Dems, Hollywood, celebrities and the MSM are promoting this type of behavior.
They almost succeeded last year at Butler, PA and Mar al Lago through purposeful incompetence and/or willful intent by the Secret Service.
I still worry about this type of “Et tu Brute” moment by the Rino’s and Dems as DJT continues to MAGA and MAHA.
Terminator 101
This is hardly new. Booth, Guiteau, Czolgosz, Oswald, Fromm, Hinkley, and anyone else you can think of were either Democrats or lunatics and there’s a lot of overlap there.
A certain subset of the population is disconnected from reality to begin with. Three generations of people raised by TV instead of family have grown their numbers geometrically. Powerful voices, access to the public treasury, and the miracle of antisocial media have just twisted the knob to 11.
It is amazing that the Hard Left are always claiming to “be kind”, isn’t it?

Justified homicide
Justified homicide is a small step to justified genocide. The Left has already taken that step by their support for Hamas and death for the Jews. No one ever tells them that this also justifies genocide against them and that it destroys their moral credibility forever.
As if we don’t have a problem with RWA violence and a president who routinely incites violence against his opponents (half the country).
It comes FROM the chicago “class of ’68”. VERY PROUD of Brookings 1960, Engels 1962, JFK/RFK/MLK/MX, and a Nixon and Reagan on the side…you know like billary and kerry-kohen, and holder.
The left is filled with unhinged people who truly believe speech they don’t like is “violence” while their violence is “free speech”. It’s an entire political movement that demonstrates the more dangerous aspects of clinical narcissism every day.
How far is it, morally, from slaughtering helpless innocent babies, to supporting assassination?
They are one in the same. And that leaves America with an entire political party composed of deranged terrorists or moderates who applaud the deranged terrorists.
