The president does have full immunity. We have a counterweight to that: impeachment and conviction by the Congress. That’s the only option given us by the constitution. Without immunity, any president could be tried for crimes, real or imagined, by a politicized DA’s office after leaving office. If Congress chooses not to impeach then that’s the end of it. No do-overs.
