Suddenly, It’s No Longer ‘Deeply Dangerous’ To Talk About Rigged Elections

It wasn’t long ago that we were told that President Donald Trump’s questioning the legitimacy of the election wasn’t just unfounded, but a serious threat to the future of the nation.

As one commentator put it, by raising the specter of election fraud, Trump was “sowing doubt not just about the 2020 election, but whether America’s voting system – the foundation of American democracy – is sound … In a democracy, where governing power is rooted in the consent of the governed, this is deeply dangerous.”

Yet here is President Joe Biden, predicting that the next election can’t be trusted, based on far less evidence than Trump had. And the press is celebrating him for it.

“I think it would easily be illegitimate,” said Biden at his marathon press conference last week when asked about the midterm elections (that Republicans are expected to sweep). “The increase in the prospect of being illegitimate is in proportion to not being able to get these reforms passed.”

Biden was referring to a bill push by Democrats that would federalize state elections and make it easy for the left to manipulate vote totals. In the bizarro world of the Democratic-media complex, this is called a “voter rights” bill. And efforts by Republicans to enact prudent requirements such as voter ID, registration roll maintenance, vote harvesting bans, and the like, are described as voter suppression.

Yet, despite zero evidence that Republicans are trying to suppress legal voting, you never see Democratic claims about voter suppression preceded by the obligatory “baseless,” or “false,” “big lie” adjectives attached to every Trump statement. They don’t even get tagged as “misleading.”

You certainly never see complaints about how these false claims are threatening the fabric of our society. Biden isn’t being kicked off social media. Tweets about voter suppression lies aren’t being censored by Twitter.

Instead, the mainstream press is urging Biden on, saying things like, “Democrats believe there’s plenty of evidence that Republicans are trying to steal future elections and feel bolstered by extensive reporting by CNN, NBC, and other media outlets on the state-level machinations of Trump allies.”

“Extensive reporting”? You mean, like this from CNN’s White House correspondent Stephen Collinson, who claims – without evidence – that there is “a nationwide effort by GOP-run states to make it harder to cast ballots and easier to steal elections, which is rooted in ex-President Donald Trump’s voter fraud lies.”

The truth is that Democrats have been undermining the integrity of elections far longer and much more aggressively than Trump has.

Al Gore got this ball rolling when he dragged the 2000 Florida vote all the way to the Supreme Court and then stood silent as the left claimed that George W. Bush stole the election – even after media-sponsored recounts (each hoping to prove that Gore was the legitimate winner) showed Bush won Florida fair and square.

Hillary Clinton picked up the baton in 2016 with claims that Trump colluded with Russia to steal that election. Even now Clinton insists that she was the legitimate winner. “There was a widespread understanding that this election was not on the level,” she said late in 2020. “We still don’t know what really happened.”

As National Review’s David Harsanyi put it, “Democrats have been delegitimizing elections for years.”

He notes, for example, that Nancy Pelosi – when calling for Trump to be impeached – said it was “dangerous” to let the 2020 election decide Trump’s fate, and Rep. Adam Schiff argued that “The president’s misconduct cannot be decided at the ballot box, for we cannot be assured that the vote will be fairly won.”

Stacey Abrams still hasn’t conceded her loss in the 2018 Georgia governor’s race after claiming that election had been stolen, and continues to be celebrated by Democrats and the press.

After her loss, Democrats fell over each other making claims that voting machines around the country were vulnerable to being hacked. And let’s not forget the Democrats’ attacks on the Electoral College every time they lose, further eroding the nation’s trust in presidential elections.

Did any of them get kicked off social media platforms? Did the press call any of them liars? Or insurrectionists? Or a threat to our form of republican democracy? If you can find such an example, please let us know.

We are detecting a pattern here, one where talking about stolen elections is a dire threat to democracy only when a Republican does it.

  • Another example of where an “editorial board” has totally abandoned any pretense at integrity and twisted recent history to suit their political goals.

Who started claiming that elections were fixed and that they were predetermined back in 2015? It was candidate trump of course. Before that we had had concerns and claims but the various candidates respectfully competed and accepted defeat with grace. When John Kerry won the popular vote but lost the Electoral College – he conceded and assured America’s friends and enemies that the US would transfer power smoothly. John Kerry assured the world that America could be depended on.

Who repeated exaggerated claims of electoral fraud? It was president trump of course. When Hillary Clinton won the popular vote but lost the Electoral College, she conceded. President Obama went out of his way to ensure a smooth transfer of power, he attended the Inaugural.

When President Biden won the popular vote (decisively) and won the Electoral College vote (in spite of repeated attempts to cheat and stay in power) we saw trump refuse to concede, claim fraud, encourage his supporters to attack the Capitol Building, and refuse to assure US friends and opponents that the transfer of power would be smooth. We saw trump put the US in danger, since opponents might have tried to use the weeks before President Biden took office to test the US.

The various bills to increase election security would not allow the left to easily manipulate vote totals – voting would still be run by bipartisan voter committees as they have been for decades. If the GOP feels that their own party members are a part of some conspiracy, then they should say so. The “editorial board” is just repeating lies.

    • Typical Democrat propaganda. When will you people ever tell the truth? I’m pretty sure 2000 came before 2015. Ridiculous. See you in November.

    • Integrity and honesty are 2 specific items you are short on. Your fact free opinions regarding the 2020 election expose you and are unlikely to persuade anyone reading the article. Show up with the truth or don’t bother to show up at all.

    • John Kerry lost the popular vote by 3 million ballots. That election was not very close. Kerry needed Ohio and lost by over 100000 votes. There was NO accusation of fraud by Kerry because the votes were in line with pre-election polling and expectations.

    • You lose any credibility claiming Trump gave orders to attack the Capitol building. You are confusing him with the FBI operative, Ray Epps, seen in 4 or 5 videos urging just that. He was even called out by Trumpers as a fed, fed, fed. But, you believe in your little version of the truth. BTW, Democrats have challenged almost every presidential election they lost. It was Hillary who started the entire Russian collusion narrative the day after she lost to Trump. She has never admitted she lost and her insatiable lust for power will never be sated.

      • From Factcheck:
James Ray Epps was at the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021. But there is no evidence that he was an FBI plant assigned to instigate the riot, as a conspiracy theory — embraced by at least two members of Congress — claims. There is evidence, however, that Epps once held a leadership role in the Oath Keepers, some of whose members have been charged in the attack.

        From AzCentral:
Social media influencers accuse Epps of being part of a secret government plot to stage the Jan. 6th riot at the U.S. Capitol and blame it on supporters of then-President Donald Trump.

Yet there is no evidence Epps was a government operative, and he may have longtime or former connections with the extremist group the Oath Keepers, some of whom were recently charged in the riot.

        From Newsweek:
he House Select Committee investigating the January 6 attack has dismissed a right-wing conspiracy theory falsely alleging an Arizona man working for the FBI encouraged Donald Trump supporters to storm the Capitol.

For several months, Ray Epps has been the focal point of a conspiracy that the January 6 attack was a “false flag” orchestrated by federal agents.

The claims have been widely promoted by Fox News’ Tucker Carlson as well as Republican Senator Ted Cruz and representatives Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Thomas Massie, among others.

      • What were the Antifa and BLM stuff if 1/6 was a “riot”?

It was partying tourists let in by the doorkeepers.

Study recent history a bit more and avoid the talking points that lack truth!

    • Never mind, for a second, ‘who started claiming elections were fixed.’ Ask yourself ‘who started claiming a man could be a woman?’ and immediately granted demented men legal access to federal women’s rooms etc. You, Mr. Madame, Mixter or whatever EXGOP, identifying presently with such nonsense, are not a very credible source. Any balanced individual would now look for the joke in any word that comes out of your mouth. The prosecution rests. I men this helpfully.

    • “When John Kerry won the popular vote but lost the Electoral College”

Bush had 62M popular votes, while Kerry had only 59M.

“Who repeated exaggerated claims of electoral fraud?”

      Democrats.

“When President Biden won the popular vote (decisively)”

Biden “won” stolen votes. The 2020 presidential election was the dirtiest election in US history.

“we saw trump refuse to concede, claim fraud”

He shouldnt’ have conceded. The election was clearly stolen.

“[Trump] encourage[d] his supporters to attack the Capitol Building”

This is yet another bald faced lie from the extremists on the left.

“refuse to assure US friends and opponents that the transfer of power would be smooth”

Why should power ever be transferred to frauds?

“The various bills to increase election security would not allow the left to easily manipulate vote totals ”

The most secure vote is paper ballots, in person voting with valid ID. The only people who oppose that is democrats.

    • Winning the popular vote is like coming in at the end of the 100 metre sprint with the egg still in your spoon. No-one else competes for that honor. If you want California and New York to dominate all politics in the US you need to campaign to change the Constitution. Good luck with that.

But it isn’t neccessary anymore anyway. The dems have learned to cheat strategically. It is in those strategic cheating locations that the battle will be fought in 2024.

  • The Democrat election propaganda narrative is vulnerable to the truth. That is why the state audits of the 2020 presidential election were so important, and had to be prevented, canceled, suppressed and stopped at all costs; and people asking for recounts or audits, like Rudy Guiliani, had to be stripped of their law licenses and deprived of their freedom of speech in social media and public forums just for asking the courts to examine the issue. At least Al Gore got his requested recount in Florida in 2000. Two years after the Florida loss, the media were allowed access to do their own audit of all the Florida ballots; and concluded that Gore would have won Florida if he had requested recounting all the ballots, both the under-counts and over-counts. The public should be entitled to audits of the voting machines and ballots from the 2020 election, especially in states like Pennsylvania where several million more mail-in ballots were counted than were mailed out by state election officials. GOP acquiescence or collaboration with the Democrats to block 2020 election audits lets the Democrat 2022 narrative reign supreme –- bipartisanship that furthers the communist and socialist causes.

  • Tactically, it might be advisable, after the polls close in November, to encourage the Dems to investigate every claim of fraud rather than deny culpability. Assuming that the Republicans ‘don’t do that kind of thing’, I look forward to egg spreading all over duplicitous Democrat faces.

    • “Assuming that the Republicans ‘don’t do that kind of thing'”

You seem to not realize that nearly every arrest/prosecution for voter fraud in the last 6 years (at least) was committed by Republicans. But I’m sure that’s only because Democrats control all the law enforcement and courts now too, right?

  • ExGOPTexas, President Trump is a bellicose blowhard who has been right on every major issue of the last 4 and a half years. Election integrity, border security, international affairs (Russia, China, Iran, North Korea), Middle East peace, deregulation, cutting taxes. You don’t like him, so you abandoned sanity for complete raving lunacy and found yourself outside the GOP.

  • This article omits the current movement by GOP-run state legislatures to give themselves the power to overturn their state elections. A huge power grab.

  • The DNC is already prepping it’s Dream Team of Gore, Hillary and the ever vigilant Stacy Abrams to ping pong between The View, Maddow’s Madness, and the occasional heartfelt nodding Oprah showings to read their concocted victim-hood beat poetry that would get booed off your local beatnik coffee shop mic.

  • The utterly predictable fruits of no-excuse mass mail-in ballots: 242 people, nearly SIX THOUSAND visits to the “covid/Zuckerberg” drop boxes; $10.00/ballot (in ONE GA County):

“Georgia opens investigation into possible illegal ballot harvesting in 2020 election” – JusttheNews

  • We need to use plain talk here. Democrat talking points of voter suppression are BS and racist. They are saying people of color are too incompetent to get a valid id. People of color ALREADY HAVE A VALID ID! Requiring proof of who are you is a simple and legitimate requirement to vote.

But, forget about the rest. The proper response is ridiculing laughter, then tell them they are full of crap.

  • And yet Trump’s “mean tweets” (which didn’t exist – his tweets just used milder language than his opponents, but called them out) were and still are the focus of so many.

Too many scum in the US at this time.

  • The Editors of I & I totally have 20/20 vision about the hypocrisy of the Dems. Dems denied voter fraud while engaged in fraud (per court decisions for the past 2 years).
Every Dem quips that Voting is fair. Yet, Voting hasn’t been fair since 1950. Voting Fraud has a long genealogy in America. Dems believe that saying Voting is fair will dupe the Voters to flow with the deception.
The bottom line is that Voting lacks the integrity of truth because Politics relies on lies, deception, fraud, and even murder to exercise the power of “Democracy.”
