Biden’s Border Lies Show Contempt For Constitution

President Joe Biden and the officials in his administration have a bad habit of telling us that they’re not doing what we clearly see they are doing. Case in point: Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas who, despite repeatedly and insistently claiming the border is “closed,” has admitted it really isn’t.

Right now, the Border Patrol is dealing with a sudden and overwhelming influx of Haitians following last summer’s coup in that poverty-stricken country. They’re part of a growing mix of people from Central America, South America, the Caribbean, and even as far away as the Mideast and Africa, trying to cross illegally our porous southern border.

How many have come? And how many have been deported? After weeks of prevaricating and hemming and hawing, Mayorkas responded in a TV appearance Sunday to the growing border disaster.

It didn’t go well. As the New York Post pointed out, Mayorkas lied at least seven times on “Fox News Sunday” defending the administration’s border policies that have wrought such chaos. That might not be a record, but it is surely close.

Among those lies:

  • Mayorkas’ fresh claim of “at least 12,000” Haitians and other illegal entrants out of 17,000 released at the border and into the U.S., a statistic he said he didn’t know just days ago. It will get worse because at least another 4,000, perhaps more, are on the way from Central America.
  • His statement that the Biden administration will “follow the law” on letting illegals enter the U.S. As noted on Monday, even after a court overturned the Obama-era “Dreamers” amnesty program, the Biden administration announced “that it will simply create a new rule to circumvent the legal ruling.” In short, Biden will ignore the law, not follow it.
  • His assertion that Department of Homeland Security will remove those here illegally who don’t appear for their hearings. In fact, as Fox News’ Chris Wallace pointed out, some 44% of all those who cross illegally don’t show up in court and little if any effort is made to arrest and deport them. “The law provides that individuals can make a claim for humanitarian relief. That is actually one of our proudest traditions,” Mayorkas responded. “Proudest traditions?” It’s against the law. Period.
  • His claim that border agents’ lawful and entirely proper recent actions on horseback to keep Haitians from flooding across the border near Del Rio, Texas, “painfully conjured up the worst elements of our nation’s ongoing battle against systemic racism.” That’s an odious lie: Even the New York Times and CNN now admit the Border Patrol did not “whip” attempted border crossers, as alleged. But the Biden administration nonetheless continues to repeat the lie.

We could go on, but why bother? The border lies are now so numerous that it’s impossible to think the administration ever believed them. So why lie? Obviously, to assuage Americans’ growing rage at Biden’s open border policy, which could sink the Democrats in 2022.

That Americans dislike Biden’s policy is beyond dispute.

It started last spring. When a “shock” poll from Rasmussen showed not only were Americans against any kind of “amnesty for illegals,” it also revealed that a huge majority of 73% said they were “concerned” about the growing chaos on our border. Other recent polls show similar results, with big majorities disagreeing with Biden’s border policies.

The truth is, as events show, we already have an open border. Illegal entrants are being resettled in the U.S. by the thousands. Once an illegal immigrant is here, it’s far easier to stay than to get kicked out. And, hey, no experimental vaccines required for illegal entrants. Just for citizens.

As for what the border is really like, ask Rep. Tony Gonzales. He represents 42% of Texas’ border with Mexico, which feels the full impact of Biden’s failed policy that replaced President Donald Trump’s successful “Remain in Mexico” policy.

“I arrived here today to pure chaos,” Gonzales said last weekend. “I’ve never seen it in this environment. There literally is no border left.

“There’s no doubt there’s COVID here, there’s measles, tuberculosis, all kinds of diseases,” he added. “You’ve got kids running around in nothing but diapers. A handful of port-a-potties – my God, the stench is terrible. This is not good for the migrants. It is not good for the residents. It’s not good for wherever our government is sending them in the interior of the country.”

Worst of all, the abuse of our border violates Biden’s sworn duty to protect the nation and to uphold its Constitution, especially Article 4, Section 4, which requires the president to secure our border.

So why won’t he? It’s not cynical at all to suggest that the far-left Biden administration and the party that put him into power see this as a chance to pad local voting rolls around the country with new, and grateful, illegal immigrants-turned-Democratic voters. The Dems seem strangely confident voters will do nothing about it.

Is there any doubt that Biden’s lawlessness violates his constitutional duties? We think not. Yet, barring an unlikely impeachment by a Democratic Congress, we’ll have to wait until the 2022 congressional elections to fix this. Your vote will count. Unfortunately, so will those of a lot of new voters, many here illegally.

  • Before those illegals can vote they must first become citizens. And before they become citizens they must become permanent legal residents. Fortunately, Ronald McBiden and Horizontal Harris can’t just pronounce some secret spell and, presto!, instant citizen. OK, I’ll grant that the Jackass Party can open voting to illegals, but their legislative attempts so far have failed and, while I think our elections are wide-open to voter fraud, I don’t think many of the illegals who’ve disappeared into the woodwork will risk arrest and deportation.

I do agree that there needs to be a thorough housecleaning in DC. Personally, I think all the politicals in DC, Dem AND GOP, need to be replaced, without exception, top to bottom. But that’s another story.

  • America does not have a president. It has a demented Emperor Joke. So far no one has shown a willingness, never mind the ability to curb his one man ( and puppeteer ) band. So much for the protection of the Constitution. Like the laws ; only effective when enforced. No wonder terrorists are crowing. There seems to be a solid streak of yellow through the entire government. You should have kept King George. We would have protected you from communism.

  • “Biden’s Border Lies Show Contempt For Constitution”….What Constitution? Ours has been suspended for nearly two years. The New Constitution is a Periodical and changes on a monthly basis!
