The New York Times recently published a long story warning that the planet’s climate tipping points are frighteningly near. The “great systems in the natural world,” the reporters say, “might be pushing toward collapse” due to man’s use of fossil fuel. Maybe so. Or the changes we’re seeing in the climate might be entirely natural.
But that won’t sell papers to a readership that suffers from a chronic and intellectually stunting case of confirmation bias.
The Times wants us to worry about the mass death of coral reefs, the abrupt thawing of permafrost, the collapse of Greenland ice, the breakup of West Antarctic ice, a sudden shift in the West African monsoon, loss of the Amazon rainforest and the shutdown of Atlantic currents.
And when might disaster be visited on all these hot spots? Well, says the Times, it depends on a number of variables and in some cases the timeline is just “hard to predict.”
Or maybe impossible. But again, a story with that angle won’t stir up the true believers who beg to be stirred up. Only alarmist articles will do that.
We pick on the mighty New York Times here, but it’s the legacy media’s great pleasure to spread misleading information and conjecture about the climate.
About the only truth we can know about the claims surrounding anthropogenic global warming is that it’s “political, not physical, science.”
From choosing carbon dioxide as the villain because it’s a convenient “leverage point” for assuming “control over a society,” as noted by retired Massachusetts Institute of Technology meteorology professor Richard Lindzen, to the effort to smear skeptics as “deniers,” the entire global warming enterprise has been a Trojan horse hauled into society by fanatics who are more than willing to lie about “the science” to advance their anti-capitalist, anti-freedom political agenda.
The zealots will say anything. When they bark and wail, the truth never even gets a chance to put its pants on. They tell us that storms, even those of low intensity, are products of man-made climate change. We saw this with last month’s Hurricane Beryl, attributed by all the right people to human-caused warming. Every time a glacier recedes or the Antarctic loses ice, they say our fossil-fuel use is the reason. When someone miscounts the polar bear population, the screeching about oil and gas is turned up to 11.
Name any event found in nature – wildfires, droughts, floods, heavy rain and snow, rising sea levels, crop losses, famine, disease, all of which there are credible alternate explanations for, and all of which were occurring before man discovered that crude oil was the key to modernity – and they will blame humanity as if it’s a criminal enterprise bent on destruction.
The zealots have no evidence for any of their contentions, but they are rich in speculation, and are driven by envy, anger, social ambition and quite clearly a mental illness that manifests itself in extremism. There is a remedy, but getting these people to take a strong dose of the truth is hardly a manageable task. It would be easier to sandpaper the backside of a bobcat.

When someone indicates that they believe in global warming or climate change, I ask: then you believe the oceans are rising, right? Of course, they say yes. Then I say: Then why does Obama and other politicians own beachfront property?

When people eliminate one God, it is in their nature to find another and worshipping the earth is just that. Taught to kids from early on, there will be no going back…
I would rather die by climate change (but I doubt that will happen as many ages of heat and ice have occurred before and we will survive) than by global tyranny of a one-world government, which is what climate change is promoting.
Did you know that Google has put a deleteable warning about your site. I have never seen that warning come up before, anywhere. It is becoming apparent that what was written in 1984 was correct. “Telling the truth has become a revolutionary act.”
Keep telling the truth my friends. I’ve known that Global Warming and Climate Chage are just the current titles of their scam. Something as simple as looking at the earth on Google Earth shows just how insignificant human activity is because we are so microscopic there is no way in hell we can do what those morons are claiming.

“Climate Change” came about because the “experts” and elites saw that their predictions of Global Warming never came into effect.
So why climate change? Because the climate is always changing-if it didn’t change we’d never have a change of seasons.

I’m going out on a limb here, but I bet my life that this “climate change” can be resolved if Americans simply separate themselves from their money and their freedom.
We are experiencing global climate change. Nobody can deny that. Every single day, in every single corner of the globe, the climate is different than the day before and will be different from the day after it. It’s always been that way for BILLIONS of years. But it’s now a monetized industry that must be fed.
Thee true risk of climate change has nothing to do with the climate. It’s the tyranny that will happen if government gets the power to fight it. They we I’ll abuse that power to turn the USA into the USSR with them in charge.

Essentially true of those items mentioned.
But CO2 increase and average temperature increase are pretty well backed up by real scientific evidence. Acknowledging those may help with credibility.

OK, I get it. You are a believer in CO2 as the cause of global warming. You, and the rest of these ‘scientists” are bluntly, wrong.The trees that make the O2 that we breathe, the plants that we rely on for food for ourselves, our livestock etc rely on CO2 for their very existence. Real climate scientists have show that we are indeed at a tipping point of reducing the CO2 below the point where the tress and plants will start to die off! We need to INCREASE the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere for a healthy eco-system.

But the concentration is increasing with time, not decreasing.
I disagree. Actual statistics show that the CO2 in PPM is actually decreasing. The Mauna Loa “studies” are skewed by an active volcano nearby. Kilauea spews tons of CO2 every hour of every day. It makes any thinking person wonder why they located their sensors there. Could it bee that they needed the data to support the claims?

The Mauna Loa site is ideal (as long as data is taken up wind of the volcano…) for getting air not influenced by any local human activity.

Are you aware that the West Coast of Florida didn’t hit eighty degrees until March this year? But when I point out observations like this, climate change faithful respond, no, that’s weather.
The real problem is not whether an increase in CO2 will cause the Earth to reach a ” tipping point” or not….the fact is you won’t keep 4/5’s of the world’s population in poverty to prevent it even if it is true…the western developed nations are relatively stable in CO2 production…nearly all of the increase in the future will come from Asia, India and Africa…wind and solar won’t change that…
Just use a little common sense against the government propaganda. All of the following facts can be obtained from Google AI, Wikipedia and government sites, all of which have a liberal bias. The current atmospheric CO2 level is approximately 420 ppm. The lowest level in history was 180 ppm at the peak of the last ice age. The highest level was 4,000 ppm during the Cambrian period 500,000 years ago, which is the period of the greatest expansion of life in earth’s history. Green houses pump in CO2 to around 800-1000 ppm to enhance plant growth.
So the same government that wants power to regulate everything, and the researchers funded by the government, have convinced you that carbon is a threat to carbon based life forms that thrived when CO2 was 1000% higher than it is today, is 50% of the optimal level for growing plants, and is only slightly higher than during an ice age that almost caused humans to go extinct.

I have been following the “climate crisis” for 40 years, not a single piece of evidence of a static climate on a global scale over an appropriate timeline has been provided. Until such time, change is all we have, suck it up buttercup.

Most honest scientists who aren’t captured by government grants will tell you that, assuming climate change is an anthropogenic phenomenon, the timeline is measured in a hundred years, not a decade. But you will never get that conclusion from leftist news sources which seek to benefit politically in the short-term from ridiculous hype.

I cannot believe I read this article in the anticipation of some grand revelation. It was just insults and angry rhetoric. If you want a serious debate on the PHYSICAL science concerning this issue, then give some physical arguments. Instead, this was just more partisan nonsense. Not even the oil and gas companies would agree with 90% of what was written here.
Climate change zealotry is not a new phenomenon.. Read the Prophets of the Old Testament. Mortals who transgressed against the Law of God, both Jews and pagans alike. were routinely punished with plagues f locusts, hailstorms, droughts, famine, extreme heat, etc. And it wasn’t just the Jews who believed that mortal behavior could influence the weather. Even the Greeks who we think of as supremely rational had similar stories. King Agamemnon had displeased the Goddess Artemis who still the winds and would not let his fleet depart for Troy until the King had sacrificed his own teenage daughter. Belief in manmade climate change is as old as the weather.
At the end of his Rainbow Six novel, Tom Clancy’s protagonists dropped off a huge group of Green Eco-Terrorists in the middle of the Amazon rain forest. Rather than execute them for their mass murder, they showed them mercy and allowed them to exercise their belief system that they wanted to force onto Civilization. The satellite coverage showed the life signs steadily disappearing as the Greens faced the results of their philosophy.
I wouldn’t object to our real-life Greenies being treated in a similar manner. Let them practice what they are trying to force on the rest of us.

Instantly the “Greenhouse Gas” theory of global warming came true, but the world didn’t end as promised. Therefore it must be studiously ignored in favor of the CO2 culprit-narrative. By the way, carbon dioxide makes up only 0.04 per cent of the atmosphere, an unlikely culprit for global doom.
In the meantime, Canadian carbon taxes manage to induce some the shrillest complaints here, especially by the corporate news-media—even though it’s more than recouped (except for high-income earners) via federal government rebate.
Many drivers of superfluously huge and over-powered thus gas-guzzling vehicles seem to consider it a basic human right. It may scare those drivers just to contemplate a world in which they can no longer readily fuel that ‘right’, especially since much quieter electric cars are for them no substitute.
Once again, the disturbing mass addiction to fossil fuel products by the larger public is exposed, which undoubtedly helps keep the average consumer quiet about the planet’s greatest polluter, lest the consumer be deemed hypocritical.
Also, as a species we can be so heavily preoccupied with our own individual little worlds, however overwhelming to us, that we will still miss the biggest of crucial pictures. And it seems this distinct form of societal penny-wisdom but pound-foolishness is a very unfortunate human characteristic that’s likely with us to stay.
