I & I Editorial BoardTwo days ago, when most were thinking about the joy of the upcoming holidays, Anthony Fauci, the country’s No. 1 public health enemy, had ruining Christmas on his mind. The man actually suggested Americans demand that their guests show them proof of vaccination before allowing them in their homes. If such a comment doesn’t set off a public campaign demanding he be fired, then this country is in deeper trouble than we thought.
Appearing Wednesday on a Washington Post Live interview, Fauci said Americans who invite others into their homes should “essentially ask and maybe require that people show evidence that they are vaccinated, or give their honest and good faith word that they have been vaccinated.”
Does the good doctor, whose name and authoritarian urges have inspired critics to coin the terms “Faucist” and “Faucism,” understand that he said, in effect, Americans should be demanding “your papers, please” of their friends and family? Was he unaware that signs saying ”Unvaccinated Not Welcome” now have been seen in Germany? Or was he inspired by them?
(To be fair, it appears the “signs” might be the work of someone making a political statement rather than a warning from the shopkeeper. But the fact is, Germany is locking the “unvaccinated out of public life.” If someone is making a point, it’s not an exaggeration.)
As dangerous as novel coronavirus has been, the response to the pandemic by elected and unelected officials has been worse. Lockdowns cost livelihoods – and lives. Delayed health screenings and surgeries have caused premature deaths, while the unemployment shock caused by shuttering the economy will eventually have a similar effect on mortality.
At the forefront of this rancid stew of public health policy has been Fauci. And not only has his performance as physician been miserable, he’s obfuscated, evaded and outright lied before Congress in his position as a U.S. government employee. He deserves to be fired for dishonesty as well as his incompetence. Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky believes that Fauci should even be prosecuted and imprisoned for lying to Congress, which has “prosecuted other people” and “selectively gone after Republicans.”
Though he has a medical degree and a residency, Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, he should not be honored with title of “Dr.” He’s a career bureaucrat with too much power, and too much influence, both of which have been imparted to him by Democrats and the media, not for his achievements but because he was willing contradict Donald Trump.
That he has positioned himself as the unchallengeable god of science is as chilling as his suggestion that Americans need to show their papers to freely move around the country. He’s a fearmonger without conscience, a petty tyrant who feels no guilt.
We don’t expect Fauci to ever get what he should have coming to him, though, so the best we can do is follow Paul’s advice.
“Let’s not live in fear because Dr. Fauci is promulgating things that are unscientific just to scare you,” Paul said last week. “If you’ve been vaccinated or if you’ve had the disease, live your life and ignore this man.”
That’s a doctor’s recommendation we’ll be glad to take.

Fauci’s (and Biden’s) totalitarian impulses are perfectly explained by my general theory of COVID response – most officials implement policy according to their own level of vulnerability and fear. Fauci is over 80. Biden is 79 and not in good health (senile dementia is a COVID risk factor). They are in the demographic who can expect to die from COVID even if vaccinated. Their totalitarian policies are not to protect you. It is to save their own lives from something you might transmit to them. The same with the teachers unions in schools. They mask the kids to solely protect the teachers from viruses transmitted by the kids.
You say: ” It is to save their own lives from something you might transmit to them.” But, the vaccine doesn’t stop or slow getting infected or spreading infection. “Three months after having the AstraZeneca vaccine, those who had breakthrough infections were just as likely to spread the Delta variant as the unvaccinated.”
Oh sure I am going to bypass holiday gathering with my 94 year old parents who are in more frail health everyday that passes. (sarcasm intented) Life is precious so I choose to live it while I can while taking appropriate precautions to protect those who need protecting —as we have always done!!! Nothing should have ever changed (except of course the response to this virus which has caused more harm than not and don’t forget those faulty PCR testing methods…sigh!)
Anthony Faux-Xi is a total fraud – a bureaucrat with a white lab coat who hasn’t practiced medicine since he completed his MD residency in 1967. As a bureaucrat, who’s job is to increase his agency’s annual funding, Faux-Xi has been quite adept. With ‘science’ not so much. His answered to questions from people like Sen. Rand Paul are exercises in bureaucratic obfuscation and misdirection, answers not unlike those he gave to my graduate microbiology class at the University of Michigan circa 1986. Presented as the head of the government’s anti-AIDS efforts (a really BIG DEAL back then), Faux-Xi’s presentation was typical content-free twaddle one might expect from a government functionary. His Q&A however was simply useless. He couched every answer about his work combatting AIDS as a recruiting ad for us perusing careers in public health.

While the COVID issue is real it has been and still is being used as ‘an opportunity too good to miss’ by the Left (aka Democratic Party) as well as some major pharmaceutical companies. Democrat leaders have not even tried to be subtle about their opinion regarding the use of COVID as a political tool. March 22, 2020 “Democrat House Majority Whip Rep. Jim Clyburn said that the Coronavirus Relief Bill is “a tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision,”. That opportunistic realization expanded toward the 2020 elections. April 2, 2020 “California Governor Newsom: Yes, We Will Use Coronavirus to ‘Reimagine a Progressive Era’ “There is opportunity for reimagining a progressive era as it pertains to capitalism,” absolutely we see this as an opportunity to reshape the way we do business and how we govern.” The saying ‘As goes California so goes the nation’ became real as the threat of COVID was being used nationally to manipulate the election. May 8, 2020 “California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed an executive order permitting all registered voters in the Golden State to vote by mail in the upcoming presidential election, citing concerns stemming from the Chinese coronavirus pandemic.” The voters of several major ‘swing states’ were also given the opportunity to vote by mail. That was the blank check which combined with an orchestrated “conspiracy” to alter the 2020 election. See Time 1/4/2021 “The Secret History of the Shadow Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election”. “There was a conspiracy unfolding behind the scenes, one that both curtailed the protests and coordinated the resistance from CEOs. Both surprises were the result of an informal alliance between left-wing activists and business titans. They got states to change voting systems and laws … ” Unregulated mail-in ballots worked as intended. State election laws were changed, not by state legislatures as mandated by respective State Constitutions, but by lawsuits and decisions to “change voting systems and laws” made by Governors who did not have the authority to do so. After the election: “Newsweek: California Judge Rules Gov. Newsom Overstepped on Mail-in Ballot Mandate and went beyond his authority when he issued an executive order for everyone in his state to get mail-in ballots for the U.S. election.” This was the result of COVID being used as a political tool.
The companies which have supplied the COVID shots are now cranking out ‘booster shots’ (when the original series of shots fell short of the desired effect) as Fauci and Biden continue to move the goalposts of ‘fully vaccinated’. Those shots are paid for by the Federal government. “The American Rescue Plan Act signed by President Biden on March 11, 2021, the COVID vaccine administration will be fully federally funded.” According to Oxfam the ‘fully funded’ funds now have the companies which make the shots and booster shots rich. “Pfizer, BioNTech and Moderna making $1,000 profit every second …”. Today the bottom line of all things COVID is as California Governor Newsom stated: “Yes, We Will Use Coronavirus to … to reshape the way we do business and how we govern.”

It’s entirely possible,maybe even highly probable, that Fauci is incompetent, knowing and understanding nothing about the scientific process, and at the same time, a megalomaniacal, thin skinned, narcissistic, control freak who has bought into his own story that he is science.
Because people can be wrong and still believe in the rightness and righteousness of their wrongness.
Several recent events in the news are evidence of this. One is Jussie Smollett. Another Alec Baldwin. A third is Elizabeth Holmes.
All 3 demonstrate behaviors that suggest they believe in their own lies and delusions. It’s pathological and people under the influence of their own delusions cannot help themselves.
Whatever influence they have over others must be severely limited and checked to prevent further harm to society.
Smollett and Holmes, even if they don’t suffer much criminal punishment, have blown their careers.
What happens to Baldwin remains to be seen, but people see just how delusional he is.
Checking Fauci will probably prove more difficult. I don’t believe any President can fire him as he is a civil servant,not a political appointee.
People can choose to switch the channel or turn off the TV when his face appears. He can be ignored. He definitely deserves to be mocked.
I don’t believe he believes his lies. I believe he is enjoying making millions from the vaccines.

Disagreeing with Fauci is fine. However, referring to him as a jackbooted thug is at best, cheap name dropping to make your editorial sound more significant than letting it rest on its own merits. At worst, it was ignorant given that Fauci was recently compared to Dr. Mengele. Your willingness to swim in such a cesspool is quite illuminating.
The cesspool created by Progressives?? The same people are hypoventilating about Fauci being called Mengele, have called every Republican President, especially Trump Hitler, Nazi ect. Fauci and too many doctors and politicians have emulated the CCP concerning the origins of the Covid 19/SARS2 pandemic, provide forked tongue advice, denied effective therapeutic treatment, provided failed treatment, and coerced the public into accepting ineffective, leaky, contaminated, adverse reaction prone Covid 19/SARS2 “vaccines” that have resulted in unprecedented injuries, disabilities, and deaths. They have doubled down on their CCP like behavior by instituting Fascist/Faucist/Stalinist measures to silence those who just want the facts and “best in class” treatment for the Covid 19/SARS2 infection and pandemic.
I would add to Mr. Paul’s comment the following. “If you’re unvaccinated, also live your life because unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last 2 years there is no way you haven’t come into contact with the virus.”

Based on performance alone, he should be fired. Nothing he’s done has slowed the deaths. In fact, more people have died since Biden*/Fauxi took over the handling of this virus than did under Trump. Biden* excoriated Trump for his handling of the virus. What does he say now?

As for dangerous, the only thing dangerous about it was the mandates tghat made people wear masks, which caused more illness than the virus, and the people who were killed by forced ventilation, and for those who were actually sick, the medicine that would actually work, withheld from them.

I’ve neither been vaccinated (which is worthless) nor had the disease, but I live my life and ignore hideous Fauci. The risk of contracting and dying from illness cannot be eliminated by cowering in fear.
